History of Jeffery-West

The story of Jeffery-West began in Northampton in 1987. The fantastic and unforgettable Jeffery-West brand was founded by Mark Jeffery and Guy West. Their products are aimed at men; in fact, their products are aimed more at gentlemen, not just men. The good friends, Mark and Guy, have been designing and creating shoes ever since their childhood when they took the unwanted shoes from the shoe factory that Mark’s father owned. They created a little workshop in a shed at the hotel that Guy’s parents owned and they paid a man to finish off the shoes in a factory.

They were able to advance so much in this field of work due to the resources that were available to them, for example the unwanted shoes from the factory and the shed. Their hard work and dedication also helped them reach their goal. They began making the shoes when they were very young, so it is clear that they had a vision of what they wanted to do in their lives. The designs of the shoes are very unique and everything they produce follows the same theme; everything they create has a Gothic theme.

Their business is still mainly based around shoes, but they also create other items as well. They create a large number of other Gothic themed accessories for gentlemen. Every product made by the company is of the highest quality and fashionable. The slogan created for the Jeffery-West brand sums them up in three words: ‘Infamous English Shoes.’

Jeffery-West shoe styles

There are so many different styles of shoes that Jeffery-West create and while they all follow the Gothic theme, they do have differences. Here are the various types of Jeffery-West shoes: Blake Stitched, Goodyear Welted, Muse and Black line, and Suede. There are also various styles of shoes, for example, there are Chelsea Boots, Chukka Boots, Brogues, Escobar Shoes and so many more. I told you there were a lot! Due to the large variety of shoes, it either makes it very difficult to make a decision or it will make it easier for you to find something you like. There is a style of Jeffery-West shoes that would suit you, you just have to find them. Jeffery-West produce a wide range of different shoes; everything from casual boots for men to formal dress shoes.

As well as the many different types of Jeffery-West shoes, there are also a large number of styles. Many of the styles are named after Mark Jeffery and Guy West’s influences and heroes, for example, one of the styles is Brilleaux; this style is named after Lee Brilleaux who was a part of the Dr. Feelgood band. This band was a British rock band in the 1970s. Other heroes are Steve Marriot, an English musician, Peter O’Toole, an actor who starred in Lawrence of Arabia in the 1960s, and Francis Dashwood, a Chancellor of Exchequer in the 1700s; the Marriot, O’Toole and Dashwood styles have all been named after some of the duo’s biggest heroes and influences. Some may think the Jeffery-West designs are fairly unusual, however, they are also very classy; many people, including David Beckham, wear these gentlemanly shoes.

What makes the shoes unique?

This is a question that many of you will be asking. What is it about the shoes that makes them so unique? Well, there are a number of things that make them a unique item. One unique feature is the heel of the shoe; every pair of Jeffery-West shoes has a cleft heel, which represents a cloven hoof. The idea of the cleft heel links to the Gothic theme because of the connotations of the devil; the devil is known to have cloven hooves. Another feature of the shoes that makes them unique is the image or writing on the bottom of the shoe; some of the shoes have an image of a devil and others have writing, for example ‘Pleased to meet you, hope you guessed my name’. It has been used to link to the Gothic theme, like the cleft heel.

What other items do Jeffery-West sell?

As well as stylish shoes, Jeffery-West also produce a number of other high-quality products, including cuff links, belts, wallets, scarves and canes. The Gothic theme continues with these products so wearing the shoes while incorporating other Jeffery-West accessories goes really well together. However, do not think you have to wear Gothic clothing to be able to wear these items; they would go well with many outfits and styles. These products are simply for the more gentlemanly clientèle.

How should the shoes be looked after?

The high quality leather Jeffery-West shoes are not the cheapest pair of shoes, so they require more care than a regular pair of shoes. Taking care of your shoes means they will last longer, and that is what you want from an expensive pair of shoes; you do not want to pay a lot of money for something that is not going to last. One item that you can use to take care of your shoes is a shoe tree; a shoe tree just slides into your shoes and maintains their shape. It will help you avoid any creases in your wonderful shoes. Another way to take care of them is simply just to clean them; just give them a wipe every so often to avoid a build up of dirt that is impossible to get rid of and make sure you do not use anything that will scratch the leather. However, avoid using water! This could potentially ruin your shoes. There are also a variety of shoe care kits you can purchase to make sure you are prepared to keep your shoes in good nick.

If you think your shoes are in need of a repair, then do not wait to get them repaired because they can only get worse. At this point, your shoes may not be repairable. Also, if you have suede shoes, then you can spray them with a stain repellent and brush them; suede brushes are advised if you have any suede shoes because this can keep them looking good and new.
